A heartfelt crochet journey of love, memory, and handmade beauty
Sometimes, a project carries more than just yarn and stitches—it carries memory, emotion, and connection. While organizing the basement, I found an unfinished crochet wrap started by my mother over 25 years ago. She passed away the year before last, and holding her work in my hands felt like touching a piece of her spirit.
The yarn she used was from Phildar, still soft and vibrant after all these years. The wrap, lovingly begun, was waiting for just a few more hexagons to be complete. With some of the original yarn still intact, I made the decision to finish what she had started.
Continuing Her Work
I carefully examined the existing motifs—beautiful hexagons, crocheted with care and a timeless eye for detail. To preserve the original flow and rhythm, I created additional full hexagons and also designed and added half hexagons to achieve a balanced, finished edge.

Matching my mother’s stitch tension and style felt like a quiet conversation across time. Each loop, each turn of the hook brought back memories and filled me with gratitude.

Joining and Final Touches
Once all the motifs were completed, I joined them seamlessly to the original work, keeping the integrity of her layout intact. The last step was the blocking—a process of stretching and shaping the shawl on foam mats to bring out the true beauty of the stitches.

As the yarn relaxed and the pattern unfolded, I saw Ima’s Wrap come to life. It is now finished—glowing with warmth, elegance, and love.
A Wrap Full of Love
This project was more than just a crochet piece. It became a bridge between generations, between grief and joy. I feel so blessed to have brought her vision to completion, and Ima’s Wrap will forever hold a sacred place in my heart—and now, in the world.
Gratitude to my Beloved Mother!
